And Also, He’s a Liar

Satan injects lies into our minds throughout the day. Here I have chosen a few troublesome thoughts and the relevant scripture that dismisses the lies.

I’m losing control.

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Galatians 5:16-18

Satan cannot cause you to want something evil and then be unable to resist it. God gives us the power and strength to resist any sin, and we cannot be cut off from God our Helper. The Holy Spirit will always fight and argue against the flesh and its wickedness. Instead of being blind and subservient to sin, now the Holy Spirit acts as a filtration system for sin; a sentry that blocks intruders from entering the gate. The Holy Spirit cannot be fooled by Satan for the Holy Spirit is in direct communication with God.

““No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

“We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” 1 John 5:20

You know what is right and what is Godly because of Jesus. You know God.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:22-24

God gives you the power to resist Satan and wicked things. Jesus has crucified the flesh so that you are no longer a slave to its desires.

“When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. ‘Sovereign Lord,’ they said, ‘you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them…’” Acts 4:24

Sovereign means above all things; God is above all things. He will not let us down.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”        Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus has been given all authority so that Satan can only do what God gives him permission to do. And God will not allow us to be overcome.
